HISTORICAL FACTS AND DATA ABOUT THE BARRIO OF PINAMUCAN

1. Present name of the barrio - Pinamukan

2. The present place which is now called Pinamukan was once called "Pipisikan". The earliest inhabitants were said to settle on the eastern part of the barrio, for the western part in which most of the present inhabitants’ lives was swampy place, dense with mangrove trees. There were only three families, namely: the Villenas, Hernandez and the Alcantaras. These three progressive families enlarged as time went on and more and more of the swampy region in the Western part was settled every year.
Today, few homes can be found in the neighborhood where the first inhabitants lived. The once dense mangrove forest is cleared, the swampy land dried up for the people to build their homes on it.
The barrio includes two sitios: Pilit, in the eastern part and Bayanan in the middle part. A large tract of rolling plains is still inhabited in the northern part, while a good number of homes can be found in the southern part.

By tradition the people of this barrio are religious. The very first families are devoted Catholics. This accounts for the construction of the barrio chapel in which Sundays prayer are never neglected. Special religious prayers during fiestas, baptisms and novenas are held by the whole barrio population. During fiestas, priests from the town are requested to held every year. The chapel became the symbols of the people’s faith in God.
One of the outstanding faiths of the people is hospitality and good manner. The people help one another especially when affairs are held. Helping everyone is always alive among the people. Any family begotten by death or any unlucky happening is always aided. In deaths for example, "abuloy" or donations for the burial of the deceased is given. This barrio has a fine trait like helping the helpless.
