Origin of its name:
Originally, the barrio got its name from two Spanish words “Callo” and “Kanto". Long before, there was a big store right at the cross road going to Manila and Bauan, that became so popular among people who used to pass by the place. They usually stop, either to take a rest, buy something, quench their thirst or have a lunch. Later, according to one of the oldest persons of the barrio, Mr. Pedro Sarmiento it was chanced to "Calicanto as it is.now.
The original boundary to the south with that of the poblacion as D. Silang St. on the east, north and west, the former boundaries are it is now.
Tubigan is one of the sitio. As the name imply the location is partly salt beds, fish ponds and rice paddies..

The Buenafe, Amul, Aya, Luna, Macaraig, Abacan, Magtibay, Sarmiento, DeTorres, Gonzales, Baril, Villamor, Espina, Marasigan, Manalo, Espino, Umahon and Magpantay.

Historical sites, Buildings, Structure and Ruins :
Rimigian de Torres house in one of the oldest building of the place. Another one is the residence off Mr. Blouse the former manager of Batangas Transportation company located in the former BTCo compound.
Customs and Traditions :
By nature the people of the barrio are religious and peace loving. They are tied- up in serving their good customs and traditions.
FACTS, EVENTS, AND INCIDENTS that took place with reference to political industrial, educational, religious and economic matter.
a. Spanish time: There was no school in the barrio. The people learn to read and write by the Cartilla method. The first teachers were Cabeza Crispin Mendoza and maestro predencia Godoy.
b. American Time: The head quarter of the American Army was stationed in the barrio.
c. Japanese Time: On March 11, 1941 the Landing area and the whole barrio were bombed by the Japanese War planes. On March 9, 1945 many houses were burned.
