SM Cinema Batangas sponsored a special movie screening for the blind and deaf in the province of Batangas as part of their project for persons with disabilitries (PWDs).
More than 300 deaf and blind from Batangas City went to see the special screening of the popular action movie, “Taken 2”, accompanied by the staff of the City Social Welfare and Development Office and DepEd Special Education teachers. They were assisted by the City Social Welfare and Development Office staff.
This special screening has Audio Description which narrates the key visual elements of a film like actions, costumes, gestures, facial exprerssions, and scene changes for the benefits of blind viewers. It also has Close Captioning for the Deaf, which enables the deaf to read printed words on screen.
This is thru the initiative of SM Cares in partnerdship with Deaf and Blind Support Phils Inc., CALL Foundation of the Blind and MTRCB and SM Cinema, and the local government of Batangas to make movies and visual media more accessible to PWDs in the Philippines.
SM City Batangas made the viewers happier by giving each of them a huggable teddy bear as a special souvenir.
