200 estudyante makikinabang sa summer job program ng city gov’t

Magsisimula na sa May 2, ang summer job ng may 200 grantees ng Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES) ng pamahalaang lungsod ng Batangas, kung saan sila ay magtratrabaho sa iba’t ibang tanggapan ng pamahalaang lungsod at ilang pribadong establisimyento kagaya ng mga food chains sa loob ng 22 araw.
Ang naturang mga grantees ang pumasa sa mga pagsususulit at interviews ng isinagawa ng Public Employment and Service Office (PESO) at Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE). Limampu sa mga ito ay nakapagtrabaho noong nakaraang taon o tinatawag na “SPES babies”.
Sinabi ni PESO Manager Noel Silang na ayon kina Congressman Marvey Mariño at Mayor Beverley Dimacuha, ang 278 SPES applicants na hindi nakapasa sa mga exams at interviews ay bibigyan ng P3,000.00 educational assistance.
Ang SPES ay taunang ipinatutupad ng pamahalaang lungsod katuwang ang Department of Labor and Employment(DOLE) alinsunod sa RA 9547 o “An Act to Help Poor but Deserving Students Pursue Their Education by Encouraging Their Employment During Christmas or Summer Vacation…”. Prayoridad sa programang ito ang mga out-of- school-youth (OSY).
Layunin ng programa na mabigyan ang mga estudyante ng pagkakataong kumita para magamit sa kanilang pag-aaral at maging produktibo rin ang kanilang bakasyon. Ang bawat isang grantee ay tatanggap ng P453.68 sa bawat araw na katumbas ng salary grade-1 na empleyado ng gobyerno o kabuuang P9,980.00 para sa 22 araw. 60% nito ay mula sa pondo ng pamahalaang lungsod, samantalang ang 40% ay mangagaling sa pondo ng DOLE.
